Tom was on the bus home from work when he saw something under the seat. It was a small brown wallet. He picked it up and looked around, but the bus was almost empty.
Inside the wallet there was some money, an old photo and a library card with a name on it: Anna Novak. There was no phone number and no address. Tom put the wallet in his bag and decided to find her.
The next morning, he went to the library in the town centre. The woman at the desk smiled when he told her the story. She could not give him Anna's address, but she promised to call her. Tom left his phone number and went to work.
Two days later, Tom got a phone call from a woman who asked for his address, and that evening somebody knocked on his door. It was an old lady with a box of chocolates in her hands. “You found my wallet,” she said with tears in her eyes. “The photo inside is the only picture of my husband.”
Anna and Tom talked for more than an hour. Now they are friends, and Tom visits her every Sunday for tea and cake. He still thinks it was the best thing he has ever found on a bus.
